Amanda & David

YAAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!! That is how I feel about this wedding. It was too perfect.

I photographed David’s proposal (which was the absolute cutest thing) to Amanda back in January, and I was thrilled when they reached out to have me photograph their wedding as well! They did something that not a lot of people do: they split up their wedding into 2 days! As I’m finding with a lot of my clients, they would have loved to elope, but they wanted to involve their families in their wedding. So they opted for a very lowkey intimate ceremony by the pond in Humboldt Park with about 15 family and close friends standing by, one violinist, and their best friend Nick officiating.

Their ceremony was BEAUTIFUL. Both of them could not stop weeping out of pure happiness to marry their best friend. They also couldn’t help kissing each other multiple times aside from “The Kiss” and even when that moment came, they went in for about 4 consecutive kisses. Cutest. 😭 They also wrote each other some amazing handwritten vows. Ugh. Take a look:

Being a couple after my own heart, they placed a lot of importance on their portraits and planned about 2 hours after the ceremony to party bus around Chicago, having their newlywed photos done in several classic locations. We hit up the Planetarium, the Chicago Theatre, and the Riverwalk.

And of course, I had to snag a few photos in the epic party bus. :D

The next night, they had a reception at Ada St. - a super trendy bar/restaurant/event venue in the Fulton Market area of Chicago. They invited about 50 more friends and family in addition to those present at their ceremony. It was a super fun night of mingling, drinking, an amaaaazing buffet dinner, and most of all, DANCINGGGGG.

I want to make a special point to shout out DJ Major Taylor. He brought the frickin house down. I usually leave weddings totally exhausted, but I left this reception feeling SO DAMN AMPED because his music choices and his transitions and everything he did was ON POINT. Four for you, Major Taylor, you GO. Seriously. Hire this guy.

After mingling for a while, Amanda and David gave a short but sweet welcome speech and did their adorable first dance to You Are The Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne (one of my faves!!!). I’m posting a buttload of dancing pics because there really was that much enthusiastic dancing!! It was awesome.

Man. These two, y’all. Their joy and silliness and love for each other and for life is truly infectious. I dare you to look at these photos and not smile. I DARE YA.

Congratulations, Amanda and David. There is no doubt in my mind you will be together FOREVER, like your ghosts will probably haunt the same place and everything. You inspire me to live and love to the fullest extent and I’m so so happy for you. ❤
