What is Dubsado?

I interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to tell you a bit about an absolute game-changer for my business: Dubsado. What is Dubsado, you ask? It’s only the greatest CRM out there right now! What the HECK is a CRM, you ask?? CRM stands for Customer Relationship Management. In other words, it’s a software used by businesses to manage and organize their client information and communications.

When I say client communications, I don’t just mean emails (though that is a part of it; I send most of my client emails through their project in Dubsado), but all documents related to any particular job, including contracts, invoices, pricing proposals, questionnaires, and even my contact form on this website is embedded via Dubsado. All of this stuff and more is kept in one clean, organized place and it all has my branding on it and looks very clean and professional. I used the word “clean” twice just there on purpose because it REALLY IS THAT CLEAN. :P

And that just scratches the surface of what Dubsado can do. You can also create workflows and canned emails to automate nearly everything (for example: “potential client submits contact form - trigger an welcome email response” OR “4 weeks before wedding - trigger wedding questionnaire email” etc.). That all takes so much time to do manually, but with automated workflows it gives us business owners back a lot of time in our work week.

Why Dubsado?

So, Dubsado is obviously not the only CRM out there right now. So why choose Dubsado?

One other top contender is Honeybook. I’ll tell you why I barely even considered Honeybook. There are a few reasons:

1) Their app. Back when I was looking into CRMs, the Honeybook app was one of their biggest draws, but it was only available on iPhones. It has since been developed for Android, but they’d already lost me when they didn’t develop for both at once. Dubsado is still developing their app but a) they’re developing BOTH AT ONCE and b) the user interface for mobile browsers is one of the best I’ve ever seen.

2) Their disingenuous sales techniques. It always irked me that Honeybook was always offering 50% off like it was an amazing deal, when they ALWAYS have 50% off available through affiliate links or some code or another. Plus, their starting price of $450/year seems kind of ridiculous when you look at HB next to Dubsado.

3) The free trial. Honeybook has a pretty standard free trial of 14 days. Nothing wrong with that. However!! Dubsado’s free trial has no time limit. They allow you to set EVERYTHING up and then bring 3 clients through an entire workflow, however long that takes. Can’t beat that, to be honest.

4) The client perspective. I’ve been on the client side of Honeybook a few times, and I was not a fan of the user experience. This matters to me more than any of the other stuff. If I don’t like something, I’m not going to subject my clients to it, simple as that.

Now there are still more CRMs besides these two, such as Sprout Studio, StudioNinja, 17Hats, and Tave. I can’t speak to these because I never even looked at them, to be honest. But what I’ve heard across the board from people who have used them and switched to Dubs is that the customization and automation of Dubsado (not to mention their constant updates and growth) can’t be beat. And I believe it. 👍🏻
