Ok, before I get to the good stuff, I just have to say… Grand Canyon. HOLY WOW. My little Midwestern heart practically jumped right out of my chest. It’s true what they say: the Grand Canyon is impossible to describe or capture in a photograph. But of course, I’m me, so I still tried. ;)
Now, let me tell you a bit about the gorgeous souls pictured down below. Pamela and Larry got married several months ago in their home country of Singapore. They were finally able to go on their honeymoon in October, and, smart people that they are, they spent it in the amazing American West. After hitting up places like San Francisco and Las Vegas, they came to the Grand Canyon. After finding each other thanks to the good old internet, we had arranged to meet up there and do a little honeymoon shoot!
Here’s the twist. They had a little bit of a GPS mishap on the way there and didn’t get there until about 5:30, with sunset at 5:50! AHHH!!! A photographer’s worst nightmare. :P But hey, shit happens. Anyway, we had planned on over an hour of shooting at multiple spots along Desert View Road, but with our newly limited time, we decided to just meet at Grandview Point and get what we could.
And, well… time constraints be damned. We made some frickin MAGIC with our 25 minutes. The good thing about being confined to sunset is you are “stuck” with THE BEST LIGHTING AND COLORS YOU COULD EVER ASK FOR. You may have to rush around like a maniac and come up with prompts on the fly, but the sky rewards you in the end. Not to mention, Pamela and Larry were the most amazing subjects. Between Pamela’s beautiful flowing dress, putting up with the cool 7000-feet-of-elevation winds (a big feat coming from hot and humid Singapore!), going out on every ledge I asked them to, and just being the absolute CUTEST… it was perfect.
